About Me

Vivi Tsai 蔡品宸 (b. 2001) is a Taiwanese artist. She received her AA in Fine Art from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Her multidisciplinary practice spans oil painting, printmaking, sculpture, and drawing, and is shaped by her family background and transnational upbringing.

Vivi’s work explores childhood sensibilities, animals, and the natural world. What began as a personal act of self-soothing has gradually evolved into a broader inquiry into shared emotional states. Through her practice, she seeks to create works that offer not only herself a sense of balance, but also moments of calm and quiet reflection for the viewer.

Her work emphasizes the relationship between emotion, material, and visual language. Rather than relying on direct narrative, Vivi allows feelings to surface through form, color, and atmosphere. Composition and preliminary sketches serve as a structural foundation, while the work fully emerges during the process of refinement—where material choices, color relationships, and surface details are carefully considered. Valuing slowness and attentiveness, her practice treats the act of making as a space in which emotion is held gently rather than explicitly explained. Space and environment play a vital role in this process, shaping both focus and presence within the work.
